As part of SIDE's regular Authors Online program, Australian Children's Laureate Boori Monty Pryor visited SIDE to work with more than 90 students in Centra, our online web-conferencing application.
Boori is a celebrated author, performer, dancer and poet, and is one of two Australian Children’s Literature Alliance (ACLA) Children's Laureates for 2012-13, appointed to promote the importance of reading.
A master storyteller
Two sessions were conducted, with students ranging from K to 10, and the interaction and excitement of the students was testament to Boori's wonderful skills as a storyteller, best illustrated by a sample of feedback from the students:
- "Boori, THANKYOU SO MUCH for your awesome stories today. We have all had a great laugh"
- "Hi Boori, I really love your stories. They are so funny. Thank you so much for telling your stories :)"
- "Your stories were so funny! I really like when you said 'is this fence shaped liked a crocodile?' Thank you so much. We hope you come back again to tell more stories :-)"
