School-based Enrolments
SIDE provides students with the opportunity to study subjects not offered at their base school. While students remain enrolled at their base school, they register with SIDE for individual subjects as required.
When this applies
- The unavailability of specialist teachers.
- Student transitions between schools.
- Timetabling constraints within a school.
Enrolment depends on
- SIDE’s capacity to deliver the course.
- The base school determining the appropriate level of student access to SIDE.
School requirements
Where students have special circumstances and needs, they may be eligible for the Referral Program.
All schools enrolling students with SIDE must adhere to the conditions set out in the School Partnerships – Service Provision document.
Schools are also required to appoint a SIDE Supervisor to assist students with the management of their learning program.
Lesson arrangements
- The SIDE Timetable should be consulted to select available Webex lesson times.
- Webex lessons are conducted twice per week for each subject/course.
Student Health Summary
To ensure SIDE can support students effectively, a Student Health Care Summary is required for any student with a health condition, disability, or medical concern.
A separate form must be submitted for each enrolled SIDE student at your school with a health condition, disability, or medical concern.
SCSA enrolment requirements

Government schools
Participation arrangements under section 24 of the Education Act 1999 enable students to be provided educational programs from SIDE as a service provider to the school. Schools are charged depending on their category.
All government school enrolments occur online through the Department of Education Portal SIDE Online Enrolment Portal application.
WA Public Schools using SIS
Schools must re-enrol students for each school year through the SIDE Online Enrolment Portal.
WA Public Schools using MAZE
Contact the appropriate Student Coordinator for your geographical region.
Non-government schools
Schools must re-register for each school year. Students must be re-enrolled for each school year.
Step 1
The School Principal or delegate registers the school by completing the online non-government school registration form. Once approved by SIDE, the school may enrol students.
Step 2
The School Principal or delegate ensures the parent of each student enrolled is aware of SIDE enrolment and accepts SIDE’s conditions of enrolment as outlined in the school registration form.
Step 3
The School Principal or delegate enrols each student through the online non-government student registration form.
Step 4
Students should be directed to SIDE Booklist requirements.
All non-government school SIDE enrolments are charged at the full recovery rate.
