Studying through distance education proves no barrier to achievement for SIDE students. Four of our studentss have been recognised for their commitment to excellence in two areas of study.
The Arts
The Young Originals Exhibition is an annual event to showcase the work of young artists enrolled in Western Australian public schools. In the past, SIDE students have been highly successful in this prestigious event, and this year was no exception.
Bret-Abbey O'Brien of Moora (Year 11) exhibited a contour drawing, whilst Aline Gibson Vega of Rossmoyne (Year 12) showed a watercolour and ink piece.
Vocational Education
The Australian Vocational Student Prize (AVSP) recognises Year 12 students who have demonstrated exceptional skill, commitment and achievement while undertaking a Vocational Education and Training in Schools program or an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbA) as part of their senior secondary studies.
2011 graduates Brigid Truell of Bridgetown and Anne Lomas of Kojonup were both named as winners in the school-based apprenticeship category. They completed the demanding program as an integral part of their WACE studies.
