2026 | Term 1 | Week 9 - Wyalkatchem, Dowerin and Wongan Hills
SIDES’s Mini Industry Roadshow travelled through the Wheatbelt, visiting Wyalkatchem, Dowerin and Wongan Hills. Industry professionals delivered high-energy, hands-on workshops, giving students the opportunity to explore practical skills in Hairdressing, Photography, and Roof Plumbing.
Hairdressing
Pauline highlighted the importance of hair care for overall health and hygiene, guiding students through essential techniques to maintain a healthy scalp. Students enjoyed hands-on learning as they braided, colour wrapped, beaded, and styled hair with creative feather additions.
Photography
Students were introduced to the fundamentals of camera use, composition, and lighting, learning how to capture clear and creative images. The session also explored different photography styles and basic editing, building students’ confidence while encouraging creativity and visual storytelling.
Roof Plumbing
Finnian’s engaging workshop gave students practical experience in plumbing and water filtration, including using tools, fitting pipes, repairing leaks, and working safely. The session promoted water conservation while building confidence, independence, and real-world skills.
