Enrolments overview
The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is a Western Australian public school delivering flexible, online learning from Kindergarten to Year 12.
We support students in schools with specialist subject teachers, as well as those who cannot attend their local mainstream school due to remote location, high-performance commitments, temporary travel, or medical needs. Through digital platforms, Webex lessons, and dedicated teacher support, SIDE ensures education is accessible anywhere.
School-based enrolments
SIDE provides opportunities for students who remain enrolled in their current mainstream school. Students can study subjects that are unavailable through their school due to specialist teacher access, timetabling clashes, or other constraints.
Applications must be submitted by the student’s school.
Home-based enrolments
SIDE is available for Western Australian students whose circumstances mean they cannot attend a mainstream school.
Home-based students must meet one of five enrolment categories and standard requirements including residency, proof of age, minimum enrolment period, and daily supervision by a SIDE Supervisor.
Referral Program
SIDE’s Referral Program provides short-term support for students whose school attendance has been severely impacted. Enrolment in the program is a short-term alternative to regular schooling.
