2025 | Term 2 | Week 4
This year, the Mini Industry Roadshow was once again delighted to visit the Spinifex community of Tjuntjuntjara with SIDE’s professional trainers, who delivered engaging, hands-on workshops across the fields of hospitality, carpentry, hairdressing, and public art.
Hospitality: Bonnie engaged the students in a fun role-playing workshop, introducing them to the enormous potential of the hospitality industry. The students engaged in high-paced activities simulating a busy café environment. They learned how to use customer service skills in a professional manner and the importance of working within a team.
Carpentry: Nathan's workshop was an exciting opportunity for students to work with wood, explore various career pathways, and create their own unique projects while gaining important industry-specific mathematics and useful application techniques. This hands-on experience provided them with valuable insights into the world of construction.
Hairdressing: Pauline, our wonderful hairdressing trainer, guided students through the importance of hair hygiene as a key aspect of overall health and cleanliness. They learned essential tips for maintaining a healthy scalp and well-groomed hair. To add a creative touch, Pauline shared her expertise in styling, teaching students how to braid, colour wrap, bead, and incorporate feathers as stylish adornments.
Community and Public Artwork: Siahne led an inspiring workshop that was both engaging and interactive. Throughout the session, students learned how to craft models from simple materials that represented expansive artworks. As part of the process, the students exhibited their creations in a mini exhibition, offering a glimpse into the impact of public art, and also gaining valuable insights into the business side of the art world.
SIDE’s Mini Industry Roadshow was thrilled to provide the opportunity for students to take part in such an immersive learning experience with our professional trainers. It was an absolute pleasure to visit Tjuntuntara Remote Community School.
