The SIDE Career Department was thrilled to host our renowned Mini Industry Roadshow at Dowerin District High School and Wongan Hills District High School. These visits offered students exciting, interactive workshops centred around practical skills development.
The SIDE Mini Industry Roadshow introduced three outstanding industries to students, offering valuable industry insights and hands-on training.
Electrical Engineering & Sky Diving: Blake excited and impressed students with the amazing world of electrical engineering and its practical use in the high-risk worlds of motorsports and sky diving. Students developed practical skills in connecting and correcting circuit boards and powering mini devices. Blake engaged students in expanding their understanding of the industry of electrical engineering and showed them how, through his other career as a skydiver, he blends these two industries seamlessly.
Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research: Students were given the opportunity to step into the shoes of medical researchers, learning about innovative advancements in the field and engaging in fascinating activities on the future of medical research. The hands-on workshop captivated students as they worked collaboratively in a simulated laboratory to “find a cure.” This experience not only ignited a passion for science among the students but also broadened their horizons about potential career paths in the medical and healthcare industry.
Plumbing: Finnian provided an amazing hands-on workshop in the 'Basics of Plumbing' which enthralled and excited the students. They learned about essential plumbing tools, how to use them effectively, valuable tips and tricks they can use in their communities and gained insights on water conservation and other responsible practices. This workshop helped teach students to be independent, strong, and able to manage simple plumbing issues that will be helpful for both now and in the future.
Thank you for welcoming us into your schools! It was a privilege to visit the Midwest and work with students to explore future career pathways and training opportunities.
