Mini Industry Roadshow recently visited Jurien Bay District High School offering students a unique opportunity to experience hands-on skills sessions. The workshops were aimed to equip young minds with the tools and knowledge needed to explore potential career pathways in medical research, hospitality and electrical engineering.
One of the many highlights was the exceptional practical workshops from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Students were given the opportunity to step into the shoes of medical researchers, learning about innovative advancements in the field and engaging in fascinating activities on the future of medical advancements.
Bonnie Blewitt introduced students to the enormous potential of the hospitality industry. Students engaged in fun and exciting practical activities where they learnt industry-specific communication skills, problem-solving methods, and how to incorporate team building, adaptability and organisational skills in a café or restaurant environment.
The amazing Blake Chase developed student's understanding and appreciation of the wide world of Electrical Engineering. Students honed their fine motor skills by creating working electrical circuits and looked at the many applications of electrical engineering in multiple fields, including motorsports racing cars and skydiving safety equipment.
Jurien Bay’s Mini Industry Roadshow was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop a range of valuable skills, including technical ability, creative problem-solving and critical thinking. Moreover, it provides a glimpse into potential career paths students might not have otherwise considered and helps to widen their understanding of the world of work.
