SIDE’s travelling careers incursion, The Mini Industry Roadshow, had the wonderful pleasure of visiting the stunning Pilbara in Term 3 2023.
The program engaged students from Marble Bar Primary School, Nullagine Primary School, and Yandeyarra Remote Community School.
Leah Van Der Meulen, an incredibly talented musician gave the students a wonderful opportunity to feel inspired by music and sound, it was a fun workshop and the students very much enjoyed being able to ‘make music’ and gain an understanding of musical knowledge as a career pathway. Inspiring students, Ricochet Circus presented to the students insights into entrepreneurship, sharing the complexities of setting up a business out of their passions and dreams. Carpentry-in-schools workshop was exciting for the students, the students were able to work with wood, learn about career pathways and build and create something of their own, it was a great firsthand experience.
The Mini Industry Roadshow is a much-needed opportunity for remote schools to be able to fully engage students in authentic industry practices and for the students to explore career pathways from actual industry professionals in a fun and exciting day of learning.
