About Zy Child

My name is Zy, I am 14 and live in Coral Bay W.A and have done since I was 2 years old.

In my spare time, I ride my skateboard, read, watch and draw anime and manga and when I am not surfing or snorkelling, I can be found training at my D.I.Y gym practising MMA (mixed martial arts) or just chilling out playing video games.

I am passionate about art because it gives me the ability to create whatever I want.

I like drawing and turning my drawings into animations. I am inspired by popular manga/anime such as "One Piece", "Dragon Ball" and anything by "Studio Ghibli".

This year I created a short animation called "Ban The Balloon", I made it to educate people about the effects of plastics on our environment and it was screened at the annual Festival Of The Reef.

I also had a digital oil painting of my Dad accepted to be exhibited in the Young Originals Exhibition and I was stoked to be acknowledged!

The Young Originals is an exhibition of the best public school art selected from across Western Australia. A record total of 294 entries were received this year from city and country schools. This is a testament to our dedicated visual arts teachers. The judges were hard pressed to select the finalists, with 89 pieces eventually chosen for display.

The exhibition is being held at the Spectrum Project Space on the ECU Mount Lawley campus and runs daily until the 29th August 2023. If you have free time, please go and visit this wonderful display of creativity and vision from our young minds.
