STUDENTS       DOE STAFF

We are delighted to report that Asharnta and Adrianna , two of our Year 12 students from 2022, represented SIDE, their communities, and the state of Western Australia at the Heywire Summit in Canberra in March.

As our 2023 ABC Heywire National Storytelling Winners, Asharnta and Adrianna spent a very busy week working with other emerging youth leaders to workshop and develop solutions for the challenges facing our youth in rural, regional and remote Australia.

Asharnta, from Meekatharra, had never flown before. After three long flights she made it to the National Capital and Parliament House, to share her story and work with others to develop the idea of Easy Access: to streamline and simplify access to mental health services for young people.

to empower regional youth to take charge of their mental health and support their mates.
