Course Content Description:

G3AET

Students will:

  • develop an understanding of the principles of chemical and mechanical energy, power, motion, friction, lubrication, torque and pressure in relation to the auto industry.
  • demonstrate maintenance in electrical, cooling, fuel & lubrication systems.
  • Show understanding of relationships between automotive systems: driveline, wheels, tyres, steering, suspension, body and frame construction, electrical, cooling & hydraulic braking.
  • develop a further understanding of the regulations, social, economic & environmental implications of the auto industry.
  • develop a further understanding of materials use, design and production management in automotive industries.

G4AET

Students will:

  • develop an understanding of current and emerging scientific principles and developments in automotive operations and technologies
  • be able to understand diagrammatic representations of principles relating to power train, steering & braking systems.
  • use mathematical formula to explain current operations of automotive components, and assist in diagnosis of system performance.
  • have service knowledge of repair and maintenance requirements for more advanced engines, and the skills, knowledge of materials, parts and equipment needed to optimise performance.
  • develop a higher level understanding of the regulations, social, economic & environmental implications & future directions of the auto industry.
  • develop a higher level understanding of materials use, design, prototypes and production management in automotive industries.
