Modern History Y12 ATAR

Course Content Description:

A3HIM

The focus for this unit is Modern Nations in the 20th Century: China 1935-1989.

Students learn about:

  • Significant ideologies, including Marxism, Maoism and Dengism
  • The Chinese Revolution
  • Deng Xiaoping in the post-Mao era and other key leaders.

 

A4HIM

The focus for this unit is The Modern World since 1945 including:  The changing European World since 1945

Students learn about:

  • The Cold war
  • Division of Europe post WW2
  • Key ideas – arms race, space race, nuclear threat, the collapse of communism
  • The role of significant people and events eg Cuban Missile Crisis.
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 11 ATAR Modern History
