Course Content Description:

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge required for work in a defined context and/or for further study in conservation and ecosystem management. Work would be carried out under general guidance and supervision.

The qualification enables individuals to select and develop basic factual, technical and procedural knowledge in conservation and ecosystem management for Indigenous land management, lands, parks and wildlife services and the restoration and rehabilitation of ecosystems.

This qualification comprises of the following 15 units of competency:

AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes

ACHPGD206 Conduct visual inspection of park facilities

AHCMOM203 Operate basic machinery and equipment

AHCMOM101 Assist with routine maintenance of machinery and equipment

AHCWRK101 Maintain the workplace

AHCINF203 Maintain properties and structures

AHCWRK202 Observe environmental work practices

AHCWRK205 Participate in workplace communications

AHCWRK209 Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices

AHCFAU202 Recognise fauna

AHCPCM204 Recognise plants

Recommended Background: This course is recommended for students who are interested in working in an outdoor environment, value the natural environment, as well as have an interest in the conservation of plants and animals.
