In this unit, students learn about:
- Design concepts – examine and apply the elements of design and the principles of design.
- Hardware – the purpose of the Central Processing Unit (CPU), computer memory, input and output devices, peripheral devices, and troubleshooting techniques to solve common computer faults.
- Impacts of technology – Work health and safety (WHS), responsibilities of users when storing and maintain private/personal information, keeping safe online, and the impacts of changes in digital technology on our lives.
- Application skills - word processing, spreadsheets, emails and collaborative management tools, considerations for document design, layout and development.
- Project management – considerations for the development of a digital product/solution, and evaluating a digital product/solution.

In this unit, students learn about:
- Managing data – accuracy and reliability of sources of data, internet search tools and search strategies, the difference between data and information, common file formats for documents, graphics, audio and video, and personal data organisation.
- Networks - components of a network, including the communication media used to connect them, and network security.
- Impacts of technology – types of computer crimes, regulations that apply to personal ICT use, fair dealing amendment of the Copyright Act 1968 (Australia), SPAM Act 2003 (Australia), digital citizenship related to cyberbullying, and the impact of digital technology on health and communication.
- Application skills – presentation software, audio software, image manipulation software, online database tools, and troubleshooting software issues.
- Project management – components of the design process, time management skills, and techniques for presenting a design of a digital product/solution.
