A1PAL
The focus for this unit is Democractic Principles. Students learn about:
- Systems of Government including Australia
- Operating principles of a liberal democracy
- Roles of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government
- Influences on the structure of government
- Law-making in Australia. The legal system in WA and a non-adversarial system.
A2PAL
The focus for this unit is Representation and Justice. Students learn about:
- Political representation, parties and pressure groups
- Electoral and voting systems
- Contemporary political and legal issues, including potential reforms
- Case Study: comparison of weaknesses of the WA and French legal systems
