Course Content Description:

G1AET

In this unit, students develop an understanding of automotive vehicles and the basic principles and systems around which automotive vehicles function.

Students will:

  • Develop an understanding of the principles of automotive function.
  • Apply checks/monitoring of the operation of single or multi-cylinder engines.
  • Identify and use tools, equipment, parts & materials used in auto industry.
  • Develop an understanding of the various automotive systems.
  • Develop an understanding of the regulations, social, economic & environmental implications of the auto industry.
  • Develop an understanding of materials use, design and production management in automotive industries.

 

G2AET

In this unit, students develop knowledge and skills involved with servicing automotive vehicles for purposes of maintenance and repair, in combination with an understanding of automotive engineering principles.

Students will:

  • Develop a further understanding of the principles of automotive function.
  • Carry out oil changes and service schedules & general maintenance
  • Develop an understanding operating functions of the various systems that make up an automotive power plant
  • Develop a further understanding of materials use, design and production management in automotive industries.
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 10 English
