Course Content Description:

The focus for this unit is Understanding the Modern World. Capitalism, the American Experience 1907 - 1941

Students learn about:

  • Economic, political, social factors and external forces – The Great Depression
  • Key ideas – consumerism, film, fashion – Jazz Age
  • Key people - Roosevelts, Wilson, Coolidge, Hoover.

The focus for this unit is Movements for Change in the 20th Century - Nazism in Germany including:

  • Economic, political, social factors and external forces – anti-Semitism
  • Key ideas – propaganda, terror, repression
  • Key people – Hitler, Stresemann, Krupp, Goebbels.
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year10 Humanities and Social Sciences
