STUDENTS       DOE STAFF

The Mini Industry Road visited the remarkable Midwest schools of Gascoyne Junction Remote Community School and Carnarvon District High School where our trainers actively engaged students in a variety of hands-on workshops in Hospitality, Electrical Engineering, and Carpentry.

Our dedicated and enthusiastic trainers, Bonnie Blewitt (Hospitality), Blake Chase (Electrical Engineering), and Nathan Kell (Carpentry) thoroughly enjoyed sharing their diverse trade experience with the students.

Hospitality: Bonnie engaged the students in a fun role-playing workshop introducing the students to the enormous potential of the hospitality industry. The students engaged in high-paced activities simulating a busy café environment. They learned how to use customer service skills in a professional manner and the importance of working within a team.
Electrical Engineering: Blake impressed students with his knowledge of electrical engineering. Students developed practical skills in connecting and correcting circuit boards as well as powering their own mini devices. Blake also spoke to the students about skydiving, highlighting the key requirements such as mental alertness, the ability to follow directions and heightened self-awareness, and many other skills that are highly transferrable to many industries.
Carpentry: Nathan's workshop was an exciting opportunity for students to work with wood, explore various career pathways, and create their own unique projects while gaining important industry-specific mathematics and history information. This hands-on experience provided them with valuable insights into the world of construction.

SIDE's Mini Industry Roadshow was educational and engaging, helping assist students to make informed career decisions and providing insights into potential future pathways.
