This is the first year that SIDE ATAR Visual Arts students have entered competition for exhibition in the Lester Prize for Youth.
Year 11 Amara Sinclair-Hill studied Art with SIDE while attending Manjimup SHS, and Jay McCowan was a Year 12 ATAR student at SIDE.
While neither Amara nor Jay won an award, we congratulate them on their artistic achievement in 2020.
They attended a special event for finalists at Brookfield Place in Perth, accompanied by their parents and SIDE Art teacher Richard Wu.
Richard talked about the students’ works.
Amara’s and Jay’s works are unique, creative and memorable. They are doing things in art that are going beyond simple copying and display of skills and precision which is what contemporary art should be doing.
The exhibition can be viewed in the Foyer of Brookfield Place, 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000 until 27th November.
