The Young Originals Exhibition
Taylor Venter
Taylor came into the Year 12 Visual Art ATAR course and presented herself as an astute observer and a clever wordsmith immediately excelling in this course. She found her strength in making movies and her first Art film titled ‘Terre Nullius’ (No man’s land) was selected for the Young Originals exhibition. It poignantly showed how contemporary humans have a strong yet tenuous link to nature.

Metamorphosis
Millicent Graham
Millicent was selected as only one of sixteen Year 11 students from across Australia to attend the National Summer Art Scholarship in Canberra before she started Year 12 Visual Arts at SIDE. Throughout the year, she has been thoughtful, well organised and shown imaginative resolutions to complex ideas. Her work ‘Dissonance’ was a very complex piece that makes a strong statement about child slavery in overseas factories. Millicent is passionate about this issue and has created a piece that makes the audience question what and where we buy from and to perhaps change our own behaviour. Congratulations Millicent.
