A3PAL
The focus for this unit is Political and Legal Power. Students learn about:
- Legislative, executive and judicial powers with reference to the Constitution of Australia and one other country
- Roles and powers within the parliamentary system in theory and practice
- The lawmaking process – individuals, political parties and pressure groups
- Federalism in Australia.
A4PAL
The focus for this unit is Accountability and Rights. Students learn about:
- The accountability of the Commonwealth Parliament
- Accountability of the Executive and public servants
- Accountability of the courts, human rights
- Comparison of the democratic principles in Australia
- Experience of a group in the political and legal systems in Australia
