A new learning management system, Moodle, was implemented. This software was developed by Martin Dougiamas, a former Kalgoorlie School of the Air student.

Teachers at SIDE Leederville used this software to incorporate learning materials providing students with 24 x 7 access to learning resources.

Centra (later renamed as Saba Classroom) revolutionised the way SIDE teachers delivered their lessons. Students could log on and communicate with their teachers and other students in the class using microphones and interactive computer screens. All lessons could be recorded so lessons missed by students could be watched after the event.
