Clarence Eakins was appointed as the first Headmaster. He had experience teaching in the outback and understood the conditions in which isolated children lived.

Six staff members were now employed at the School to cater for 400 enrolments. Post-primary students were offered instruction in English and Arithmetic. The Correspondence School moved for the first time, together with Education Department, to a building in Murray Street, Perth.
