Course Content Description:

A3GEO

The unit focuses on global environmental change including:

  • The concepts of environment, biomes, land cover change, ecosystems, biodiversity loss, climate change and sustainability.
  • A depth study of the links between changes in land cover change and global climate.
  • An investigation into land cover restoration, land management and sustainability.
  • Geographic skills development using maps, graphs, diagrams and data.

A4GEO

The unit focuses on planning sustainable places including:

  • The concepts of urbanisation, world population growth, liveability and sustainability.
  • An investigation of urban challenges in Perth W.A. e.g. transportation, urban sprawl.
  • A depth study of urban challenges in the megacity of New York e.g. transportation and housing.
  • Geographic skills development using maps, graphs, diagrams and data.
Recommended Background: C Grade in HASS Year 11. It is helpful to have completed Year 11 Geography.
