Psychology Year 11 General

Course Content Description:

G1PSY

In this unit, students:

  • focus on a number of concepts that enable them to gain an understanding of how and why people behave the way they do
  • explore concepts relating to one’s self including personality and cognition
  • explore concepts relating to others, including an understanding of the different types of relationships; examine the development of relationships during adolescence; and understand the features of effective communication and non-verbal communication
  • examine ethics of psychological research, plan, conduct process and evaluate investigations, following the steps of scientific research

In this unit, students:

  • focus on a number of concepts that enable them to gain an understanding of how and why people behave the way they do
  • explore concepts relating to one’s self, including an understanding of developmental psychology across the human life span
  • explore concepts relating to others, including an understanding of social psychology, culture and values
  • further explore psychological research methods introduced in unit 1
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 10 Science
