In this unit, students

• design investigations, including the procedure(s) to be followed, the materials required, and the type and amount of primary and/or secondary data to be collected; conduct risk assessments; and consider research ethics, including animal ethics
• look at how human structure and function supports cellular metabolism and how lifestyle choices affect body functioning.
• study the structure and function of various body systems, and the interrelationships between systems, to support metabolism and body functioning.

In this unit, students

• study the reproductive systems of males and females,
• explore the mechanisms of transmission of genetic materials to the next generation and the effects of the environment on gene expression.
• students investigate an aspect of a given problem and trial techniques to collect a variety of quantitative and qualitative data.
