Course Content Description:

A1ECO

The focus for this unit is microeconomics exploring real world Australian markets:

  • The characteristics of a market economy, product and factor markets
  • Concepts of market demand, supply, equilibrium and elasticity
  • Research of market power efficiency and failure
  • Positive and negative externalities and government policies.

A2ECO

The focus for this unit is macroeconomics and Australia’s recent market performance:

  • Macroeconomics and the circular flow of income, the business cycle
  • Indicators – unemployment, inflation, GDP, trade and income distribution
  • Taxation, income distribution and welfare.
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 10 Humanities and Social Sciences and Mathematics
