Year 11 Science in Practice
Course Content Description:

Unit 1

The emphasis of this unit using the context of Marine Biology is on Biological and Earth systems, focusing on the following topics:

  • Science inquiry skills
  • interrelationships between Earth systems
  • structure and function of biological systems
  • ecosystems and sustainability
  • species continuity and change.

Unit 2

The emphasis of this unit using the context of components of a Festival/Concert is on Physical and Chemical systems, focusing on the following topics:

  • Science inquiry skills
  • atomic structure
  • chemical reactions
  • mixtures and solutions
  • motion and forces
  • energy.
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 10 Science

External Examination: Externally Set task (EST) compulsory in Term 2 Year 12
