Course Content Description:

A1GEO

The unit focuses on natural and ecological hazards and risk management including:

  • The concepts of hazard geography and risk management
  • A depth study of natural hazards - cyclones eg Cyclone Yasi
  • An investigation of ecological hazards - tropical diseases eg Malaria
  • Geographic skills development using maps, graphs, diagrams and data

A2GEO

The unit focuses on global networks and interconnections including:

  • The concepts of international integration and transformation
  • A depth study of commodity, good or service –eg wine
  • An investigation of the diffusion, adoption and adaptation of sport globally
  • Geographic skills development using maps, graphs, diagrams and data
Recommended Background: C grade or higher in Year 10 Humanities and Social Sciences
