The Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline sets out the mandated curriculum, guiding principles for teaching, learning and assessment and support for teachers in their assessment and reporting of student achievement. The Outline is informed by the Belonging, Being & Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Australian Curriculum. 

SIDE K-6 uses both formative and summative assessment. It provides individual students and their home tutor with feedback on each module of work. This information is used to plan future learning and make judgements of student achievement. The content and the criteria assessed vary according to year level. Semester reports are issued at the end of each school semester.
