Starting at SIDE
Welcome to learning with SIDE!
Get started with your studies by following the steps below. Each step is essential to activate your online accounts and allow teachers to add you to classes. For support or questions, contact SIDE using the details below.

Starting at SIDE steps
You will need your Department of Education (DoE) student details for your learning and communication at SIDE. Your DoE details are as follows:
- DoE school email address: username@student.education.wa.edu.au
- DoE username: firstname.lastname
- DoE password: is set by you. See the password and user validation question section for details.
To access your student email, select the Students button at the top right-hand side and click on "Your student email" button.
If you attend a DoE school, you may already know your password; it is the one that you use to log in to school computers. If you are new to SIDE or are not attending a DoE school, you can expect contact from SIDE to help you set your password.
If you forgot your user name or password, you can:
Moodle is an online space where you will find your courses and classrooms. This is where you can access your lesson materials and activities at any time and from anywhere with an Internet connection.
To access Moodle
- Select the Login button on top right-hand corner and click on Moodle Primary, Moodle Secondary or Moodle RTO.
- Enter your DoE username and password.
- If you are new to SIDE, this will activate your Moodle account.
SIDE Launchpad and Moodle Classrooms access
You will be automatically added to a course called SIDE Launchpad in Moodle. This may take a short time to become active - if it is not immediately available after refreshing your screen, check back in 24 hours.
Once you have SIDE Launchpad access, complete the activities in this course to familiarise yourself with SIDE platforms.
You will be added to your Moodle classrooms by teachers as soon as possible after your Moodle account is activated. Please be patient.
After you are enrolled in your Moodle classrooms, the first thing you should do is follow instructions in the Getting Started tile in each class.
Webex is SIDE’s live online classroom and a space where you will work directly with your teacher and classmates. You will receive your Webex times via email as soon as possible. Your teacher will also post your Webex lesson links and times in your Moodle courses/classrooms.

As good digital citizens, our students understand the importance of behaving ethically and thoughtfully in the digital world.
This includes understanding the impact and appropriate use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Being a good digital citizen means respecting others, taking responsibility for online behaviour, and prioritising safety in all digital environments, including Moodle and Webex.
