Course Content Description:

A School Based Apprenticeship (SBA) or Traineeship (SBT) is a paid part-time training program, undertaken on the job with a negotiated employer. The off the job component relates to completing Units of Competence linked to a VET qualification.

Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship or Traineeship students will achieve a national recognised industry qualification at Certificate II or higher. Students who are in an SBA or SBT enter into a formal training agreement with the Department of Training

SBA’s and SBTs are available in a wide variety of industry areas such as Automotive, Business, Sport and Recreation, Agriculture, Engineering, Manufacturing, Retail and Information Technology.

Students need to be identified as suitable candidates and go through an interview selection process to be accepted into the program.

  • Aboriginal School Based Training (ASBT) opportunities are also supported for Aboriginal students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to start training while at school. Students can gain a qualification, employment or go on to further education or training.
Mode of Delivery: Online in Moodle, Webex and on-site visits.
