Year 12 student Mariah Prunster is a recipient of the Western Australian Secondary School Executives Association Leeuwin Scholarship. She was prompted to apply after hearing about the Leeuwin Sail Training Ship from family and friends, and joined a seven day voyage of a lifetime from Fremantle in September.
Mariah, the only 17 year old in Onslow, is studying with SIDE while based at Onslow Primary School.
Mariah says that the highlight of her sailing experience was being part of a team of people across a range of ages and from diverse backgrounds. She enjoyed her experience so much she now wants to volunteer!
Further scholarships are available for students with a marine or maritime interest. Check the Leeuwin Foundation website for further details: www.sailleeuwin.com.
