Saba Classroom setup

Saba Classroom is SIDE's web-conferencing application. It is the platform used for "live" lessons in the browser. The appllication works through Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox although most home-based users will need to download a small "app"to enable it.

The key requirement is to have a recent version of the Java plugin installed and enabled. For users in Department of Education SOE4 schools, this should be enabled by default. Other users might need to do a little configuration before attending an event.

Saba Classroom does not work on the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browsers.

Windows users at home

  1. Install the Saba Meeting App using this link.
  2. Restart your machine.
  3. Saba should work, without further configuration, using Internet Explorer 8 or above.

Mac users at home

Follow this guide to setup Saba using Safari.

For IT/Supervisors in schools

Java up-to-date?

You'll need to install the latest version of the Java plugin, and you'll need to have rights to install it on the computer.

You can get the Java plugin from here: www.java.com

It's a really good idea to restart your computer after installing Java.

Enabling Java

It doesn't necessarily acitvate in the browser once installed. Thankfully, it's not hard to do:

Visit this page for Java's guide: http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml
